AN EVENING IN WHICH WE WERE TOLD WERE TO GO (IN THE NICEST POSSIBLE SENSE) TO BE ABLE TO TAKE PICTURES OF WILDLIFE IN THE UK for nothing or next to nothing
An evening in which we were told where to go (in the nicest possible way) and take wildlife pictures without it it costing us anything or next to nothing, apart from the cost of getting there.
The first really good tip was to use the same photographic gear as your partner, this saves a lot of money as you only have to buy one camera and lenses and just share, although this does have its drawbacks as Dick & Sylvia have found out in the past, when they both wanted to take the same picture at the same time.
One of the first images was a selfie of Alison in her camouflage gear, a good look and it does not make your bum look big.
For those wishing to take pictures of Salmon leaping but could not be bothered to travel all the way to Scotland there is a place in Staffordshire that is close to a car park and near a cafe so you don’t have to go to far from civilisation. All it costs is your petrol money and a dose of the piles, if you do not take Alison’s tip and take something to sit on by the weir.
As the evening went on we travelled farther North and East and inevitably into cold and wet weather, and to top it off snow. I admire Alison and her husband for going out and capturing those amazing atmospheric images, spending hours lying in the snow. I had to go to hospital after her talk with Hypothermia and have only just thawed out. And we are going back to Scotland this week, only hope it is in the summer.
One thing that always puzzles me when we see bird photos when we are told this is an image of a Pair of Keets, when they show a picture of a single bird. Are they asexual?
